About Me

Hi there!

Cape Cod gig gif.gif

My name is Steven Wagner, and I'm an NYC-based singer, born and raised in Queens. I've loved to sing for as long as I've wanted to be the next long-lost member of the Beatles—since around nursery school. After that phase, I wanted to be the next Frank Sinatra. Finally, I found that doing my own thing was more attainable, which eventually led me to pursue a degree in Vocal Performance at NYU Steinhardt.

Music has always been a big part of my life; coming from a family of musicians (yes, we do have a family band), I was exposed to everything from Andrés Segovia to Rush. But once I found musical theatre during summer camp at 10 years old, my focus turned toward the stage. Ever since then, I've been very involved in theatre, both in school and at my local community theatre, the Rockaway Theatre Company.

In addition to the theatrical scene, the world of Jewish music has always been a huge part of my life. I've been singing in synagogue for as long as I can remember, and developing the ability to lead services has been such an honor and source of joy. I take deep pride in how this work enables me to not only cultivate spiritual experiences for people, but foster a greater sense of community.

Beyond music, I spend my time bartending, playing video games, and very slowly making my way through fantasy novels.

At the end of the day, music is all about making people feel things. When singing gives me the opportunity to create an emotionally fulfilling experience for somebody, I'm happy.
